22.03.12  |  avtor: Gregor Anderluh

Slovensko biokemijsko društvo organizira 109. društveno predavanje. Predavala bo Prof. dr. Sandhya S. Visweswariah (Department of Molecular Reproduction, Development and Genetics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India). Predavanje z naslovom "Signalling through receptor guanylylcyclases: more than a "gut" feeling" bo v Veliki predavalnici  Kemijskega inštituta v Ljubljani, v torek, 27.3.2012 ob 12.00.

Povzetek predavanja:

Cyclic GMP has always been considered the 'poor cousin' of cAMP. However, a number of complex molecular machines and signalling cascades are involved in the generation and utilization of cGMP in the cell. Receptor guanylyl cyclases are multidomain, single transmembrane spanning domain proteins, that serve as receptors for a large number of peptide hormones. This talk will focus on one such member, receptor guanylyl cyclase C, and will deal with aspects of its regulation and role in the physiology and pathophysiology in the gastrointestinal tract. Our recent discovery that an activating mutation in this receptor appears to be a cause for familial diarrhoeas has emphasized the importance of this protein in general gastorintestinal physiology.
